A half day tour to take in some of Qatar’s history and culture.
First on the list is a visit to the Sheikh Faisal Museum. Sheikh- Faisal is the great grandson of Jassim, who defeated the Ottomans in battle while in his eighties and is regarded by some as the founder of Qatar.
Sheikh Faisal has been collecting antiques since the 1960s. He has them all beautifully displayed in the museum’s exhibition halls. The museum forms part of an estate which also houses an array of animals and game, including the rare oryx.
You will then drive to the camel track to see how the racing camels are trained and if you are lucky you may witness a race in progress. You will see the new and unique robot jockeys.
All of the camels are dromedaries, meaning they only have one hump. Fully grown, these camels can measure more than 7 feet tall and weigh up to 700 kg.
The last stop on the tour is the Equestrian Club and Emir’s stables where the priceless and beautiful Arabian horses are housed. This is an interesting tour for nature and animal enthusiasts.
